Two charities with Bolingbrook ties will receive donations following Thursday's 2013 State of the Village luncheon.

The 2013 State of the Village luncheon in Bolingbrook will benefit two charities with local ties.

Five dollars from each ticket sold will be donated to the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association. More than 700 people were in attendance at Thursday's event.

Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar also auctioned off two tickets to a Chicago Bulls game, which raised $3,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Claar said he requested years ago that a portion of ticket sales from the event be donated to a charity of his choice.

The donation to Lily Cache Special Recreation Association will be used for scholarships for those in need. LCSRA, formerly known as the Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association, is a partnership of the Bolingbrook and Plainfield Park Districts.

Claar said he chose the American Cancer Society for the second charity in honor of Reggie Bobikiewicz, who works in the mayor's office. Bobikiewicz has continued to serve the village while undergoing cancer treatment.
