Bolingbrook Woman Earns First Place in State Baton Championships

Nicola Colucy,18, of Bolingbrook earned first place in 2 Baton and X-strut over the 
weekend at the NBTA Illinois State Baton Twirling Championships in Zion.  

She also placed second in Solo. Nicola, a 2013 graduate of Bolingbrook High School, was recently awarded the feature twirling position at Eastern Illinois University for the Panther Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. J. Corey Francis.  

Besides preparing for her college halftime debut this fall, Nicola is preparing for her final competition in Detroit for the 2013 Jr. Olympic Games in August.  

The AAU Jr. Olympic Qualifier was held in June.  She qualified for 8 individual events and along with her  team-mates, the Westernettes of Addison, IL  she also qualified for four team events for this years games.
