Brooks Eighth Grade Boys Basketball Places Second In State

The team from Brooks Middle School played Phoenix's Coolidge in the state championship game.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Brooks Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team placed second in the Class 4A IESA state tournament.

The school hosted a "clap-out" for the state-bound team on Thursday. The team traveled to Taylorville High School to compete in the state championship game against Phoenix's Coolidge.

The team fell just short in the final game, with a score of 56-58, according to IESA. Brooks finished the season with a 27-1 record.

Earlier in the tournament, Brooks defeated Barrington's Station in the first round and East Peoria's Central in the semifinals to earn a place in the state championship game, according to the IESA website.

Lemont's Old Quarry and East Peoria rounded out the third and fourth place finishes in the tournament.
