Brooks Finishes Second at Scholastic Bowl Sectionals

came close, but a loss Monday to eventual sectional champion Westview Hills Middle School kept the Bulldogs from qualifying for the Illinois Elementary School Association’s Scholastic Bowl state finals.

Westview squeaked past Brooks 290-215 in the first round and then romped past Old Quarry of Lemont and Richland Junior High of Crest Hill to secure the title.

Meanwhile, Brooks had no trouble with Richland, winning 215-165. They also beat Old Quarry 275-80.

Brooks team members include Katie Czajka, Jeremy Karevich, Rohit Banerjee, Giezelle Cruz, Gabby Gentile, Connor Gorski, Madison Mack, Paula Refugio, Zach Schell, Preston Scott, Nick Signore, Jordan Taylor and Azra Wazir.

They are coached by David Swartz and Rita Dybas.
