Disparity In Coronavirus Numbers Between Two Parts Of Bolingbrook

According to WCHD data, Bolingbrook-west has 276 cases and Bolingbrook-east has 1,200 cases as of Wednesday.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — There is a huge disparity in the total number of coronavirus cases between two parts of Bolingbrook, according to public health data. The Will County Health Department website shows that as of Wednesday, the west side on the village (zip code 60490) has 276 cases, whereas the eastern side (zip code 60440) has about 1,200 cases.

In the last one month, cases in Bolingbrook-west have increased from 214, with not more than a maximum of 10 cases reported per day. In Bolingbrook-east, there were 1,000 cases at the beginning of August, with a high number of 44 cases reported on Aug. 17.

As of Wednesday, 2 new cases were reported in the west side and 7 were reported on the east side of the village.

Coronavirus positivity rates in Illinois' South Suburban region is continuing to increase, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. As of Thursday, the region has a positivity rate of 8.8 percent, which is higher than Friday's 8.4 percent.

Last week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a set of new restrictions in Region 7 — the Will-Kankakee region — triggered by regional coronavirus mitigation metrics, and as state public health officials announced the week before that the county had reached a COVID-19 "warning level."
