UPDATE: Girl Dies After Being Rescued From Pond At Indian Chase Meadows
According to witnesses, the girl was playing, jumping in and out of the pond, when she slipped under the water and did not resurface.
The 11-year-old girl that was pulled from a pond near early Tuesday evening has died, officials said.
"Her name is not being released as we have detectives and a chaplain attempting to locate the mother of the child to make notification," said Lt. Michael Rompa.
She was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m., nearly three hours after Bolingbrook police and fire officials responded to a call that she had gone into a pond near and did not resurface.

A water rescue was performed by dive teams from Bolingbrook and Naperville.
The girl was located and pulled from the water near a bridge behind around 6:30 p.m., Rompa said.

Emergency personnel immediately began CPR on the girl and transported her to .

Rompa said the incident remains under investigation.
Crisis counseling teams will be at at both Pioneer Elementary School and to provide support for both students and staff, according to officials.
