Downers Grove Man Charged With Vehicular Hijacking In Bolingbrook: BPD

Police said they were called to South Bolingbrook Drive at 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a burglary to motor vehicle in progress.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Downers Grove man has been charged after a report of a burglary to motor vehicle on Sunday in Bolingbrook, according to a news release from Bolingbrook Police.

Police said they were called to South Bolingbrook Drive at 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a burglary to motor vehicle in progress.

Officers arrived and found Joe Irby, 36, of Downers Grove, and he was taken into custody, police said. Irby was charged with two counts of vehicular hijacking, two counts of vehicular invasion, two counts of aggravated battery, three counts of resisting a peace officer and one count of criminal damage to property.
