BOLINGBROOK, IL — Drew Peterson, the former Bolingbrook police sergeant in prison for the 2004 murder of ex-wife Kathleen Savio, has transferred prisons again.

Peterson, serving 38 years for Savio's murder plus another 40 years for attempting to hire someone to kill the Will County State's Attorney, was moved from maximum security Menard to the Terre Haute Federal Correctional Institution in Indiana in 2017.

Just more than a month after that transfer, Peterson was reportedly attacked by another inmate in the federal prison's chow hall. The former cop's attacker wanted to sell his belongings on eBay, according to federal prison authorities, who said Peterson was hit with a food tray but not badly hurt.
