DuPage Township Supervisor Gary Marschke Dies

A celebration of life will be held March 30 at the Levy Center, 251 Canterbury Lane.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — DuPage Township Supervisor Gary Marschke died Sunday, the Township shared in a statement on its website.

Marschke was elected in April 2021 as supervisor, and was planning to run for the position again in April.

"Gary’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. For those who didn’t have the privilege, his legacy lives on through his steadfast dedication to service, including his vision for a new food pantry to support those in need," the Township said.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Marschke is survived by his wife, Lori; his daughter, Christine (Tom) Boras, and five grandchildren, according to his obituary.

During Tuesday's Bolingbrook Village Board meeting, Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta offered condolences on behalf of the board.

"He was a dedicated public servant to the community, and a great leader," Alexander-Basta said.

Marschke lived in DuPage Township since 1987, and "served our community with unwavering integrity and compassion, particularly dedicating himself to the seniors at the Levy Center," the Township said.
