Ekstrom to be VVSD’s Executive Director of Student Services

Ekstrom, who has been with VVSD since 2006, will succeed David Hehl, who is taking another position in the district as of June 30.

Erica Ekstrom, currently principal of Secondary Transition Experience Program (STEP), has been named VVSD’s Executive Director of Student Services.

Ekstrom, who has been with VVSD since 2006, will succeed David Hehl, who is taking another position in the district as of June 30.

A graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, she obtained her Masters from Governors State University and also holds a Master’s of Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

She began her career with Valley View as a resource cross categorical teacher at Bolingbrook High School before becoming a Special Education Coordinator for the district in 2007. She was named STEP Principal at the start of the current school year.

Prior to coming to VVSD, Ekstrom was a low incidence teacher at Drauden Point Middle School in Plainfield School District 202.
