Elderly Woman Enjoys Last Laugh in Theft, Credit Card Fraud Case: Police
Lt. Mike Rompa says a six-week investigation led to the arrest of 23-year-old Robert A. Osweski, who was booked into the Will County jail.

A police investigation led to the arrest of a 23-year-old Bolingbrook man on Monday who allegedly was preying on an unsuspecting elderly woman, Police Lt. Mike Rompa said.
Rompa said Robert A. Osewski, 23, of 204 Bedford Lane, Bolingbrook, was apprehended after detectives were able to conclude he removed credit cards and cash from an 86-year-old woman's purse while she was distracted.
Rompa said Osewski was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility facing charges of unlawful possession of credit/debit cards and retail theft in excess of $300—both felonies.
Rompa said Bolingbrook police initially responded to a call for help on the 200 block of Hadleigh Road in early October.
"Upon arrival, the 86-year-old female victim advised she was contacted by several credit card companies in regards to suspicious activity on several of her accounts," Rompa said. "Various questionable charges were made. She checked her purse to discover $80 in cash and several credit cards to be missing."
Rompa said a report was filed and the incident was placed under investigation. He said a warrant was issued and Osewski was arrested after the cards "were used at several area retail locations."
