Fugitive Wanted On Attempted Murder Charge Caught In Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Florida man wanted on attempted murder charges in Alabama was arrested in Bolingbrook following a manhunt by local police. The man was spotted by Bolingbrook Police Friday but fled, leading to an extensive search for the fugitive, according to police.
Raheem Tolbert, 27 of Opalocka, Fla., was arrested in Lee County, Ala. in April and charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied dwelling or car, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Tolbert allegedly fled Alabama, and officials took out a fugitive warrant for his arrest.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, Bolingbrook Police learned that Tolbert was in the area, the police department said. At 11:50 a.m. Friday, an officer spotted Tolbert near Balstrode Park, 181 Thackeray Dr., but Tolbert fled.

Officers tracked Tolbert into a wooded creek area and set up a perimeter, Bolingbrook Police said. Other agencies that helped in the search include Joliet Police K-9 units, DuPage County K-9 units and Naperville, police.
Tolbert was apprehended at 3 p.m. Friday, police said. He was charged in Will County with resisting arrest and is being held without bail, court records show. He is due in Will County court on Tuesday.
