Illinois State Scholars Honored By Valley View School Board
These students from Romeoville and Bolingbrook high schools were recognized for outstanding academic achievement.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Valley View School District 365U Board of Education used a portion of the time during their Feb. 11 Regular Meeting to honor the 117 VVSD High School students named Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.
“We are pleased to be able to recognize these outstanding students for their hard work in the classroom and in the community we serve,” said VVSD Board of Education President Mr. Steve Quigley. “While they are being honored as their educational journey is about end with their coming graduation, we see this as a reflection of the outstanding work being done by our students and staff members at every grade level.”
The State Scholar Program recognizes students attending approved high schools (typically, Illinois public high schools) for outstanding academic achievement. State scholar designation provides honorary recognition with no monetary award. Approximately the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year.

Eric Nelson- Romeoville HS, A Vito Martinez Middle School, Irene King Elementary Worked with Lewis University graduate students last summer on researching the characterization of biomimetic hydrogels crosslinked with amino acids for wound management.
Hannah Ramos- Romeoville HS, A Vito Martinez Middle School, Hermansen Elementary Displayed her artwork at the Chicagoland 4x5, JJC Area High School Art, and NIU High School Invitational art exhibitions.
