Lottery Ticket Scam: Victim Loses Cash, Jewelry to Thieves in Bolingbrook
An individual was scammed into handing over cash and valuables to thieves on Nov. 19, according to Bolingbrook police.

An individual was scammed out of cash and jewelry Nov. 19 after a group approached him or her and said they needed $10,000 to cash a winning lottery ticket.
The theft took place outside of Wal-Mart, 200 S. Bolingbrook Dr.

The group approached the victim and said they had a winning lottery ticket and needed $10,000 to cash it. The group drove the victim to a bank, but the bank was closed. Instead, the victim handed over his or her watch, gold jewelry and $1,000 in cash to the group.
The thieves then drove off after telling the victim to purchase a stamped envelope to mail off the lottery ticket.

A similar incident took place on Oct. 26, in which the victim was conned out of $7,000 to two people "needing help" cashing a "winning lottery ticket."
