Man Accused of Stealing Bolingbrook Resident's Life Savings

Corky Miller, 40, of Chicago is alleged to have stolen $50,000 in jewelry and $44,000 in cash from two safes in a Bolingbrook residence.

A man is behind bars after allegedly stealing nearly $100,000 in money and jewelry last month from a Bolingbrook home.

Police said Corky Miller, 40, of Chicago was arrested Monday.

According to police, Miller knocked on a door at 1 p.m. April 21 in the 700 block of Lakewood Farms and told the 66-year-old owner he needed to measure his backyard. The owner told police he locked the front door when he walked through the house to the backyard, but felt Miller flipped the lock as they exited. According to reports, Miller told the owner when he completed the work he would go through the neighbor’s yard. Miller left a short time later.

Later, the owner noticed two of his safes had been broken into and about $50,000 in jewelry and $44,000 in cash, his life’s savings, had been stolen, police said.

After an investigation, Bolingbrook detectives were able to serve an active warrant on Miller, issued by the Will County State's Attorney's Office.

He is charged with residential burglary and theft by deception and is in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Center. His bail has been set at $75,000.
