Mandy's Soul Food Kitchen Closes In Bolingbrook

The soul food restaurant has relocated to Aurora, and will open under a new name: The Soul Spot.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — After seven years in business, Mandy's Soul Food Kitchen announced last week that it was closing its restaurant in Bolingbrook. Then, on Tuesday, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin announced the soul food restaurant is opening its doors in Aurora.

Mandy’s Soul Food Kitchen will relocate to Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, where it will reopen under a new name: The Soul Spot.

In a news release from the City of Aurora, owner Delicia Bowling expressed excitement about bringing her legendary soul food to Aurora.

“Aurora already feels like home. You all have welcomed me with open arms,” she said.

Besides the name change, the restaurant will keep the same owner, same talented cooks, and the same menu featuring homemade favorites like fried chicken, collard greens, banana pudding and sweet potato pie, according to the release.

“The addition of The Soul Spot to Aurora is a testament to our city’s growing and diverse business community,” said Mayor Irvin. “This is a major win for commerce, our community, and the culture.”

The Soul Spot will open early March at Fox Valley Mall.
