Oswego, Ill. (February 20, 2020) — This past fall, the SD 308 FIRST robotics team 2338 Gear It Forward attended a STEM event at West Aurora High School, hosted by Congressman Bill Foster (D- Naperville). At the event, Oswego High School student Maddie Lund presented a proposal to Representative Foster from the team to create a “National FIRST Robotics Day”.

Representative Foster considered the proposal and introduced a resolution to the legislative process on February 12, 2020 as House Resolution #852: Expressing support for the designation of the first Saturday of every January as “National FIRST Robotics Day”. “FIRST” stands for For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The resolution was referred to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
