Nursing Home Deaths: Meadowbrook Has Highest Number In Illinois

As of Saturday, May 23, Bolingbrook's Meadowbrook Manor reports 38 deaths, surpassing all long-term care facilities in the state.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Meadowbrook Manor, a nursing home in Bolingbrook, currently has the highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in Illinois among any other long-term care facility in the state, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

As of Saturday, May 23, the facility had 38 deaths and 188 cases — the highest in Will County — surpassing Symphony of Joliet, which a few weeks ago had the most cases and deaths. According to IDPH, the Joliet facility reported a total 130 outbreaks and 25 deaths on Saturday.

The Bolingbrook nursing home saw 12 more deaths since Friday, May 15, going from 26 to 38 in a week.

In Will County, IDPH is reporting there are 729 cases of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities and 139 deaths. All nursing home deaths in Will County make up 53 percent of the total deaths in Will County.

Among the residents and staff in all the long-term care facilities in the state, the IDPH reports a total of 14,882 cases and 2,402 deaths.
