Road closures

Sections of Weber Road and Royce Road, though, will remain "closed for some time."

Those sections are Weber between Royce Road and Boughton Road at the DuPage River and Royce Road at Route 53 and Greene Road.

Earlier road closures were reported on Schmidt Road, Essington Road, Veterans Parkway, Remington Boulevard, Orchard Drive and Lily Cache Lane. Those roads have all re-opened.

"PD (Police Department), FD (Fire Department) and PW (Public Works) all did an outstanding job in the cooperative effort," Bolingbrook Lt. Michael Rompa wrote in an e-mail.

Police have offered these tips on how to stay safe near flooded roads.

  • Don’t drive through flooded roads, especially if the water is moving. Flooded or washed-out roads are especially difficult to see at night, and police urge drivers to turn around if they come to a flooded road: “Remember, turn around, don’t drown.”
  • Don’t let children play near storm drains, creeks or flooded areas.
  • If you live near a creek or stream, evacuate to higher ground if the water rises rapidly or if a flash flood warning is issued.
  • This incident is still an evolving situation and residents should continue to monitor any public service announcements pertaining to the storm.
