Sign of the Times: Christkindlmarket Opens Tuesday on Daley Plaza

Before you know it, the weatherman will be tracking Santa’s sleigh en route from the North Pole.

In the meantime, you have time to enjoy the annual Christkindlmarket Chicago, a traditional German holiday market on Daley Plaza that opens Nov. 26 and runs through Dec. 24. Admission is free. Hours of operation: Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The market features 56 vendors from around the world who display hand-crafted ornaments, toys and unique holiday gifts as well as traditional German foods, sweets and beverages. Information: www.christkindlmarket.com.

BROOKS CONCERT: The annual winter choir concert at Bolingbrook’s Brooks Middle School begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Admission is free and the community is welcome to attend, according to a Valley View School District news release. A reception will follow the performance. Virginia Ireland is the Choir sponsor.
