Single-Car Crash Kills Bolingbrook Teen

A teen died overnight after the car she was driving hit a tree, according to the . Police identified the driver as 19-year-old Lizbet Barajas.

Members of the Bolingbrook police and fire departments responded to a 911 call after midnight Saturday for the report of a vehicle which had struck a tree on a property at 224 N. Ashbury Avenue, according to a news release.

Barajas was immediately transported by Bolingbrook Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove due to her injuries. She was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. Saturday.

The initial police investigation indicates Barajas was traveling south on Ashbury Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the tree. Reports state there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

There is no indication alcohol was a factor in the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
