Snapshot: Army Staff Sergeant Saves the Day, Changes Stranger's Flat Tire

A Bolingbrook woman sends her thank you to Army Staff Sergeant David Elfering for changing her flat tire last week

Bolingbrook Patch Reader Carrie Jones sent this note to us last week.

With all of the negative news lately, I thought I would send something your way that's a little positive.

I hit a pothole on Route 53 near I-55 on my way home from work today. I had never changed a flat tire before and I was unable to get a hold of my family.

As I sat in the Denny's parking lot, a good Samaritan and Staff Sergeant in the army, Sergeant David Elfering, saved the day. I owe a big thank you to him for not only helping me in my time of need, but continuing to serve our country.

I wonder how many people drove by and said 'oh no, that poor girl.' It's people like him who make this world a better place.
