BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Levy Senior Center in Bolingbrook announced Thursday that one of its teachers is in self-quarantine after potentially being exposed to coronavirus infection. The teacher in question has a sister who recently tested positive for coronavirus. Due to HIPAA concerns, details about where the teacher's sister lives and how long ago she was tested have been withheld, though center staff said that she lives outside of DuPage County.

Here is the center's statement on the issue:

Please be advised that DuPage Township has been made aware that the sister of a teacher that leads a class at the Township’s Senior Levy Center has tested positive for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The teacher is under self-quarantine but has no symptoms. She has been in contact with her doctor as well as the County that she lives in and they have stated that no further action is required.

At this time, there is no reason to believe that the teacher has COVID-19 or that the teacher could have transmitted same. The Township is acting out of an abundance of caution, has directly notified class participants, and is working with the Will County Department of Health about any further actions that need to be taken.

The Township is already in the process of cancelling, postponing, and/or severely limiting any activities that cause large gatherings, particularly at the Levy Senior Center for the near future. The Township is (and has been) conducting thorough and extensive cleaning of its facilities, including disinfecting all surfaces, doorknobs, and the like. Any changes or new information will be provided to township residents as soon as practicable.
