Tuesday's Voter Turnout in Bolingbrook Under 9%

Fewer than 9 percent of registered voters in Bolingbrook cast ballots in the April 2013 election, according to the Will County Clerk's Office.

Fewer than 9 percent of registered voters placed their ballots in Tuesday's election, according to data from the Will County Clerk's Office.

Of the 36,405 residents registered to vote at precincts located in Bolingbrook, only 3,178 voters participated in the election, or 8.7 percent. 

That number was way under the Will County voter turnout of 16.84 percent, or 66,087 voters of 392,549 registered.

The April 2013 Bolingbrook ballot contained three contested races: Valley View school board, DuPage Township supervisor and DuPage Township trustees. Eight other races on the ballot were uncontested. 

In November, more than 60 percent of Bolingbrook registered voters went to the polls. 

More than 5,000 people voted early in Will County. Of those, 285 voted at the village of Bolingbrook location. 

Editor's note: Voter turnout was determined from ballots cast at DuPage Township precincts 3-6, 8-31. Data was provided by the Will County Clerk's Office. 

Election results will not be official until Tuesday, April 30 when canvassing of votes is completed and after absentee ballots postmarked by midnight, April 8, and provisional and grace period ballots are counted on April 21.
