Valley View Basketball Players Named To All-State Team

Six basketball players from Bolingbrook and Romeoville high schools were named on the All-State team.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Six student athletes from Valley View School District were designated as All-State basketball players by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, according to a release from the District.

Students chosen for the All-State team included: Bolingbrook High School senior Mehki Cooper, Bolingbrook High School juniors Yahaira Bueno, Jasmine Jones and Angelina Smith, and Romeoville High School juniors Troy Cicero, Jr. and Meyoh Swansey.

The basketball teams had quite successful seasons. The Bolingbrook High School boys basketball team were regional champions and advanced to the first round of sectional competition this year. The Bolingbrook girls basketball team were regional and sectional champions, making it to the super-sectional where the team lost to O'Fallon High School, according to the IHSA website.

The Romeoville High School boys basketball team fell short in the regional championship, losing to Joliet West High School. The Romeoville girls basketball team also advanced to regional competition, losing in the first round to Lincoln-Way West, according to IHSA.
