Valley View Expands Student Meal Service Amid Coronavirus Closure
Valley View staff announced Tuesday that a fifth distribution site is being added to its emergency student meal program.
Bolingbrook, IL — Valley View School District 365U is adding a fifth distribution site to its Emergency Meals for Kids program. The program supplies free “Grab ‘n Go” meals to students currently out out of school due to the coronavirus crisis. Beginning Monday, March 30, meals will be available at Brooks Middle School, located at 350 Blair Ln. in Bolingbrook.
The program operates as a drive-thru service. While still utilizing social distancing methods, meals are made available by the district's Nutrition Services staff on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The program will continue until Valley View schools are cleared to re-open. In addition to Brooks Middle School, Bolingbrook High School, Humphrey Middle School, Romeoville High School and Lukancic Middle School all serve as sites providing meals for children.
Each car that makes use of the emergency meal program will receive enough breakfasts and lunches to feed up to four children until the next scheduled program day. There are no accommodations made for special diets or allergies and some meals may contain peanuts. Per social distancing guidelines, patrons are to remain in their car while in the drive-thru line.
