Will County Board Elections: Candidate List Released

Over 20 candidates are running for Board seats in the March 17, 2020 Will County General Primary. Here are the names released thus far.

WILL COUNTY, IL — The Will County Clerk's Office has released the names of those running for Board seats in the county general primary election on March 17, 2020. Six district seats in the county are up for grabs. In one contest the incumbents are running unopposed, in most others there are both Democratic and Republican hopefuls. Here is a list of the contested districts, their incumbents, and the challengers. Unless noted, all terms are for two years.


  • District 1 (two-year unexpired term)
    • Incumbents: July Ogalla (R - not running; term expires 2022), Sherry Newquist (D)
    • Challengers: Kelly Dettlaff (R)
  • District 3
    • Incumbents: Margaret Tyson (D), Elizabeth Rice (D - not running)
    • Challengers: Richard Gougis III (D), Joel Brown (D), Raquel Mitchell (R)
  • District 8
    • Incumbents: Herbert Brooks Jr. (D), Denise Winfrey (D)
    • Challengers: None filed
  • District 10
    • Incumbents: Gloria Dollinger (R - not running), Tyler Marcum (D)
    • Challengers: Natalie Coleman (D)
  • District 12
    • Incumbents: Tom Weigel (R), Raymond Tuminello (R)
    • Challengers: Erin Moncek (D), JoAnne Hamilton-Gunkel (D)
  • District 13
    • Incumbents: Mark Ferry (D), Tim Kraulidis (R - not running)
    • Challengers: Mica Freeman (D), Debbie Kraulidis (R), Gerald Smith (R)
