California-Based Doughnut Shop Settling in Across From Glazed & Infused
The space that was once home to Wicker Park's Skewerz restaurant will finally be getting a new tenant, according to reports.
It's about to be a showdown—a rather delicious one.
Chicago bread company Labriola Baking is partnering with Southern California's Stan's Donuts to open a location in the former Skewerz space at 1560 N. Damen Ave., according to Eater.
The space has been vacant since May 2012, just a few months after the bar-restaurant—known for being a bit of a dive but embraced by the late-night Wicker Park crowd—celebrated its fourth anniversary.
It's also directly across from Glazed & Infused, a shop that whips up imaginative specialty doughnuts like maple bacon long John, passion fruit pistachio and banana cream cheese varieties.

Unlike the Glazed & Infused walk-up window, Stan's will feature seating. It's also expected to take a more straight-forward approach to the increasingly popular breakfast—nowadays, more like "any time"—snack, Eater says.
But the Stan's website says the shop has something for everyone, "from a cinnamon chocolate cheese danish, to an apple fritter, to a Reese's Peanut Butter pocket with fresh banana."
