Storms, 60 Degrees Possible This Weekend Before Cold Front Hits Chicago Area
Here's what you can expect over the holiday weekend.
Fog, rain, mild temperatures and even a few storms are possible this weekend before a cold front, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas of fog are expected Friday morning and again late Friday into Saturday morning, the weather service said. Highs on Friday will be 60 degrees, with the mildest temperatures south of Interstate 80.
The rest of the weekend will also be mild, with a high of 57 on Saturday and a high of 60 on Sunday.

The weather service said showers and a few storms are possible Sunday before a cold front. There is a level 1 of 5 severe storm risk on Sunday afternoon and early evening.
Storms are possible Sunday afternoon and early evening, especially south of I-80, according to the weather service. There is a slight chance of storms could have locally damaging wind gusts.

Here is a more detailed look at the weather this weekend, per the weather service:
FRIDAY: A 20 percent chance of rain before 9 a.m. Areas of dense fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 49. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 40. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
SATURDAY: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 45. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
SUNDAY: Showers. High near 59. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers before 3 a.m., then a chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 20. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
