DUI Strike Force to Patrol Bucktown, Wicker Park This Weekend
The Chicago Police Department announced that officers will be cracking down on drunken drivers this weekend in the 14th District.
Drunks beware, the Chicago Police Department has announced that the DUI Strike Force will be out patrolling the 14th District this weekend, which includes Bucktown and Wicker Park.
The program is designed to saturate a particular area with roving police officers who will monitor vehicles for signs that drivers are impaired, according to a news release.
In addition to DUI efforts, officers will also be on the lookout for speeding, alcohol-related and seat belt violations.

The mobile Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) unit might also be making an appearance in the neighborhood. The unit allows officers to expedite the time it takes to charge an offender with DUI and lets officers issue I-Bonds on site, according to police.
The operation will take place in the 14th Police District from 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13 to 4 a.m. Sunday, July 14.

The last DUI Strike Force Patrol took place in the Near West, 12th District. It netted 153 total citations including two DUIs, 36 unsafe vehicle violations, 34 seat belt violations and nine driver's license violations.
