Damen Avenue's Psychobaby Packing Up, Moving, Downsizing
A popular custom baby clothing store is closing at the end of this month. But don't fret, it will reopen in the area in July.
A Wicker Park custom baby clothes store that was started just shy of a decade ago by two urban moms is packing up and moving from Damen Avenue to Division Street later this month.
Psychobaby, 1630 N. Damen Ave., will close toward the end of June, said employee Brittani Louderbeck. A smaller, "Psychobaby To-go" location will open, instead, at 1657 W. Division St. on July 1.

Although the store will not carry lines beyond Psychobaby's, those wanting to get personalized clothes made can do so at the store in about 15 minutes.
Moms committed to other brands the store carries can order those online and choose to either have them shipped to the Division Street location for pickup, or right to their own doorstep, Louderbeck said.
"Our Psychobaby line is made up of designs that we've created ourselves and print on shirts," Louderbeck said. "For example, we've got a football belly so your baby looks like a football, or we have shirts that say things like, "I drink until I pass out.'"
The new focus on Psychobaby is an exciting move for the store, Louderbeck urged.
"We're eager to spend more time on our designs and make more stuff for the customers that's our own," she said.
