Marie’s Rip Tide Lounge Stages Emergency Fundraiser

The classic Bucktown dive bar is in danger of closing as soon as Friday without an immediate influx of cash.

Fans of Marie’s Rip Tide Lounge plan to rally Thursday night in hopes of saving the beloved Bucktown bar, which could close Friday if its fortunes don’t turn around.

Owner Tina Congenie needs to have between $120,000 and $140,000 to keep the bar afloat when she appears in probate court Friday, the Huffington Post reports.

The hastily organized fundraiser started at noon and will continue until closing Thursday at the bar, 1745 W. Armitage Ave.

“Depending on if we can raise enough money to stall the decision, Friday is the day we find out the official close date,” said a statement on a Facebook page created for the event.
