Buffalo Grove Names New Public Works Director
Michael Reynolds, who currently works for the Village of Arlington Heights, will take the helm of Buffalo Grove's public works department in August.

Buffalo Grove will soon have a new public works director.
Michael Reynolds has been hired to fill the position, Village Manager Dane Bragg announced July 19.
Reynolds will assume the position Aug. 19. He will replace Greg Boysen, who retired in March after 35 years as public works director.

Reynolds has spent his career in the northwest suburbs. For the past 12 years he as served as Arlington Heights’ public works maintenance superintendent.
“Mr. Reynolds was an excellent candidate because of his vast operational background and over 25 years of combined public works and fire service experience. We look forward to utilizing his strong experience and solid approach here in Buffalo Grove,” Bragg said in a press release.

The interview process included group meetings, written exercises and assessment center activities.
Reynolds began his career in Northfield, where he worked extensively in both the public works department and the fire-rescue department. From Northfield he transitioned to the City of Des Plaines, where he spent time as both acting and assistant public works director. He began his current role in Arlington Heights in 2001.
“I look forward to assuring that the residents of Buffalo Grove continue to receive the high level of service they have come to know and expect,” Reynolds said in the release.
Reynolds has an Associate of Arts degree from Oakton Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Public Administration degree from University of Illinois at Chicago.
A public reception to welcome Reynolds will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at Village Hall, immediately preceding the regularly scheduled Village Board meeting at 7:30 p.m.
