Buffalo Grove Police: Labor Day Traffic Safety Campaign Results

Buffalo Grove Police stepped up its patrol efforts to prevent impaired, unbuckled and distracted driving from August 19 to September 6 as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

A total of 50 traffic citations were issued during the Labor Day weekend safety campaign. Of those, 27 seat belt citations were written — 13 having occurred during nighttime hours. One arrest occurred for the offense of driving while license was suspended, and one warrant arrest was made thanks to the traffic safety campaign stop.

“As law enforcement officers we do our best to protect motorists, pedestrians and other road users,” said Sergeant Frank Horbus. “While enforcement campaigns like these save lives, there is still much to be done. Beyond the holiday weekend, we encourage the community to keep spreading the important message: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”

During the Labor Day weekend, it’s typical to see an increase in drunk-driving deaths. The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, seeks to educate the public on the dangers and consequences of driving drunk. Buffalo Grove Police joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state for this year’s campaign.
