Fire Damage Closes Buffalo Grove Restaurant
A fire is said to have started outside the restaurant before spreading inside, according to Buffalo Grove fire officials.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Dengeos restaurant in Buffalo Grove is closed after a fire caused damage throughout the restaurant over the weekend. According to a news release from the Village of Buffalo Grove, the Buffalo Grove Fire department got a call at 9:13 p.m. Sunday for a report of smoke inside the restaurant at 195 W. Dundee Road. Buffalo Grove police got to the restaurant first and found the building full of smoke.
The restaurant owner and employees were evacuated from the building, and no customers were inside at the time as the restaurant had closed at 9 p.m., according to the news release.
Fire department crews arrived and found that an outside fire extended into the restaurant, causing heavy damage to the restaurant's bathrooms and damage from smoke throughout the restaurant, according to the news release.

Employees in the building at the time of the fire told fire investigators that 30 minutes prior to the 911 call being made, they had put out an outside fire in an a smoking area, which is also where the second fire is believed to have started, the news release said.
Buffalo Grove fire crews received assistance from Arlington Heights crews, and brought hose lines into the building to put out the fire, while other fire crews opened part of the roof to ventilate the smoke and heat, according to the news release. The fire was declared under control at 9:56 p.m, the Village added.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and Dengeos will remain closed until it's inspected by the Village, according to the news release.
