Police Blotter: House Egged, Scammer Claims Major Sweepstakes Win

DISPUTES

A complainant reported an older citizen became upset while driving alongside of her at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 6 at Arlington Heights and McHenry roads. Officers checked the area but did not find anyone.  

A complainant reported a driving dispute with another driver at 5:40 p.m. Aug. 6. Both drivers were advised to keep their distance away from one another.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported receiving several calls Aug. 6 from a caller who stated the resident had won second place in the Publishers Clearing House drawing for a Mercedes Benz and $30,000 in cash. The phone carrier was contacted and placed a block on the incoming number. A check revealed the numbers were registered to a location in Jamaica. Police said the call was a scam.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 700 block of Aberdeen reported their house and cars were egged between 2-8:30 a.m. Aug. 2. The eggs were cleaned off and no permanent damage was seen.
