Stone Pleads Not Guilty of Violating Order of Protection

Former Buffalo Grove trustee Lisa Stone pleaded not guilty to three counts of violating an emergency order of protection, according to local media reports.

Buffalo Grove resident Lisa Stone pleaded not guilty to three counts of violating an order of protection Friday morning in Lake County court, according to the Daily Herald.

Stone, who was recalled as a village trustee in 2010, was prohibited last month from contacting her father and her stepmother after her stepmother requested an emergency order of protection against Stone. In the complaint, Mundelein resident Barbara Shuman reported receiving multiple phone calls from Stone, "harassing me and threatening me."

Stone told Patch this week that she called her father and also attempted to contact him through a third party after the order of protection was in place. She was arrested March 8 by Mundelein police and charged with violating the order. She was released after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.

Stone could face up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine if she is found guilty of violating the order, the Herald reported.

Stone is due back in court March 21 in Waukegan. The emergency order of protection, which is in place until that date, prohibits Stone from contacting her father or stepmother directly or through a third party, and orders her to stay 500 feet from them.

According to the Lake County News-Sun, on Friday Lake County Judge George Strickland also ordered Stone not to dial 911 unless there is an emergency. The Buffalo Grove Countryside reported that Stone called 911 last week to express concerns that her "life could be threatened" by multiple people. "What if they kill me?" she said during the call.
