Wheeling Man Dies 3 Days After Being Hit By Car
According to a news report, police said it appears the man crossed in front of the car in an intersection, while the car had a green light.
WHEELING, IL — A 60-year-old man Wheeling police said was hit by a car around 8:45 p.m. Thursday at the Wolf Road and Strong Avenue intersection has died, the Daily Herald reported. According to the news report, authorities said Monday Jimmy Harris, of Wheeling, died Sunday afternoon due to injuries from being hit by a car traveling south on Wolf Road three days prior. The Daily Herald reported Harris was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the same hospital he was taken to after the incident.
Charges against the driver, who stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators Thursday, arent likely, according to Wheeling Police Department Deputy Police Chief Joseph Licari. Licari added that the car had a green light as it went into the intersection as the pedestrian (Harris) crossed in front of the car, the Daily Herald said.
