From June 6 through Aug. 12, Pleasant Dale Park District will be the place to be for children ages 3 to 12. The district will hold its traditional day camps, that allow participants to sign up for the week or for individual days.
Five- to 12-year-old campers will participate in supervised activities, including weekly swimming, sports, arts and crafts and field trips. Weekly themes include "Me and My Planet" with a field trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory, and "Build It" when the older campers will visit the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, while the younger youngsters will go to Oak Lawn's Children's Museum. Outings also are planned to a water park, baseball game and even a climbing wall.
Pint-sized Pioneers Day Camp offers a half-day program for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds. This is a great way to introduce pre-schoolers to the camping experience. Age-appropriate supervised activities are planned for 9 a.m. to noon.
