BURR RIDGE, IL – In 2024, a restaurant in the County Line Square shopping center got permission for a year to offer outdoor dining.

Now, Patti's Sunrise Café wants the right to have it permanently.

On Monday, the Burr Ridge Plan Commission is set to review the request.

Over the last year, the restaurant has featured two outdoor dining areas containing 50 seats.

In April 2024, the Village Board delayed a vote on an ordinance allowing outdoor dining for a year at Patti's Sunrise Café. It did so after Mayor Gary Grasso said the shopping center had roof leaks, among other problems.

Grasso wanted the village's staff to ask whether the restaurant's owner, Michael Garber, had an ownership interest in the center, which is owned by other Garber family members.

According to a later village memo, Michael Garber's attorney said his client did not have an ownership interest in the larger County Line Square property. After that, the village approved outdoor dining for a year.

Village officials have expressed unhappiness with how the shopping center's owners are running things.
