Earlier this year, the village reported that the House had already passed a measure giving member towns their own ZIP codes. Now, it's in the Senate's hands.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, Grasso said he expected that the Senate may act on the bill before Christmas or sometime next year.

"I left optimistic," the mayor said. "I started thinking we weren't going to do so well, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how well we were received by the Senate staffers."
