Burr Ridge Native To Get Top U Of I Honor

He was appointed as a special Pentagon adviser under President Joe Biden.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Adham Sahloul, a Burr Ridge native and former U.S. national security official, will be honored by the University of Illinois as a 2025 Young Alumni Award recipient.

This award recognizes alumni who are under the age of 35 and who have emerged as early leaders in their respective professional or civic endeavors, according to the association.

Sahloul served as a special adviser under President Joe Biden at the Pentagon and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He also serves as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Sahloul, who lives in the Washington metro area with his wife and two children, is a national security expert and has worked on Middle East and China policy issues.

Sahloul helped organize the first local Sterigenics protest when he was a graduate student.
