Burr Ridge To Restaurants: No More Loud Music
The board's decision follows months of complaints about noise.

BURR RIDGE, IL — After receiving complaints for months, the Burr Ridge Village Board decided Monday to ban restaurants in its tent program from playing amplified music outside.
Now, four restaurants — Capri Ristorante, Patti's Cafe, Kirsten's Danish Bakery and Eddie Merlot's — are a part of the village's tent program.
In addition to the restriction, the board extended the tent program by a month, through Sept. 30, because of an increasing number of coronavirus cases in DuPage and Cook counties.

Village officials said the restaurants could play background music or other music that is not amplified.
According to board meeting minutes from last month, restaurants are supposed to get a permit before a DJ or amplified music is used outside, but that has not been happening.

Residents have complained about noise from the County Wine Merchant in County Line Square, which is not in the village's tent program. Earlier this summer, a wedding party in a tent at Capri Ristorante drew complaints.
Burr Ridge is not alone in dealing with outside music during the pandemic. Darien has also been dealing with such an issue at one of its bars.
