BURR RIDGE, IL – Starting Monday, Elm Street south of 60th Street in Burr Ridge will be closed, the village announced.

The closure is for the replacement of a water main and construction of a large box culvert to keep Elm Street from frequently flooding, the village said in a news release Monday.

The road is expected to be reopened in September. Patch wrote about the project last month.

Starting next Monday, Elm Street north of 60th Street and Sedgley Road will be restricted to one lane, two-way traffic during the day, the village said.

The disruption, the news release said, is for a water main project that connects the independent systems of Burr Ridge and Hinsdale, which could be used to sustain both towns with drinking water during an emergency. That project is expected to be done by July.
