Burr Ridge To Spend $150K To Renovate Building
A company recently moved out after 25 years in the village building.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge plans to refurbish space in a building that the village rented out to a private company for 25 years.
The building, in the 400 block of Commerce Street, has been shared by the public works department and Nanophase Technologies, which recently moved out.
The immediate benefit of the $150,000 renovation is that village employees can use the 20,000 square feet of space after Village Hall is sold, as expected, to a preschool company next spring.

For a year, the employees will be without permanent space. Meanwhile, Burr Ridge aims to build new village offices as an addition to the neighboring police station.
In a memo released Thursday, the village said it would need to upgrade the old Nanophase space to bring it up to the standard that any new tenant would expect.

The improvements include new paint, carpeting, roof patching, door and window replacements, upgrades to electrical and HVAC systems, and creation of a front counter for residents to access staff, the memo said.
The $150,000 investment would create an immediate, positive return for the village, according to the memo.
The village said the space would net about $250,000 in rent. It said it received the information from Lee & Associates, a commercial real estate broker helping the village find tenants for the space.
In May, the village expects to close on the Village Hall building with Goddard School, a preschool chain. Construction of the new village offices is estimated to last a year.
