BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge is not giving up on its plan for a new Village Hall, which officials say costs too much to renovate.

Earlier this year, all the stars seemed to align for Burr Ridge: Pleasantdale School District 107 was considering buying Village Hall for an all-day kindergarten. Meanwhile, the Village Center shopping complex offered free land for a new village building near Starbucks.

In March, though, Pleasantdale took the option of buying Village Hall off the table.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, Village Administrator Evan Walter said he would present options for Village Hall at a June 9 meeting.

"We've been working on alternative sites regarding the current Village Hall as well as tightening our budget belt on the current building," he said. "We'll be bringing a lot of specifics to you on June 9."

The 41-year-old Village Hall has been appraised at $1 million, officials said. The village said the building needs millions of dollars in improvements.

Burr Ridge is the rare town without any debt.
