How Much Acting Burr Ridge D180 Leader Making
Considering his pension, the leader's pay will exceed what he made before he retired.

BURR RIDGE, IL – With his pension, Burr Ridge School District 180's interim superintendent is set to make more money than before he retired as its superintendent two years ago.
Under his contract, Thomas Schneider will make $1,050 a day for up to 120 days. Under the Teachers Retirement System's rules, recipients cannot receive a pension if they work more than 120 days in a year in teacher pension-covered positions.
At 120 days, Schneider is poised to make $126,000 under his one-year contract, which lasts through next June. That's in addition to his $220,000 annual pension, putting his total pay at $346,000. That is well above the $315,000 salary when he retired in mid-2023. (That pay was higher than his counterparts in other districts, even much larger ones.)

Under the contract, Schneider is entitled to receive major medical and hospitalization insurance and dental insurance through August 2032, instead of that coverage ending when he turns 65 in 2031.
For the last two years, Charlie Kyle was the superintendent. In June, he was hired to become a superintendent in Skokie.

The district has entered a contract with consultant Cathie Pezanoski, a former area superintendent, to handle the superintendent search.
In a story last week, Patch detailed Schneider's return to the district, where he was a consultant the last two years. He was at the helm for 17 years.
In 2024, the district's enrollment was 477. Schneider's total pay for the year, including his pension, works out to $725 per student.
