Man Charged in Meth Bust at Burr Ridge Hotel

Luis Martines-Corona was arrested with 5 pounds of methamphetamine outside a Burr Ridge Hotel. He appeared in DuPage County Court Thursday.

A man wanted on drug charges from Minnesota appeared in DuPage County Court Thursday on charges of drug delivery and drug possession with intent to deliver. Luis Martines-Corona, 34, was arrested at a hotel by state police with more than five pounds of methamphetamine.

Deputy Tim Vaclav said they were aware of the incident, but did not assist on the case.

According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Martines-Corona is facing a Class Super X felony charge, because of the amount of drugs found. This carries a sentence of 15 to 60 years in prison.

Bond was set at $500,000 for Martines-Corona, who was wanted on charges of possessing dangerous drugs and first-degree sale of drugs in Ramsey County, Minnesota. The State's Attorney's Office said he fled Minnesota in order to avoid prosecution, and he is now facing a charge for being a fugitive from justice.

Martines-Corona's next court appearance is scheduled for June 25.
