McAuley Accepting Hall of Honor Nominations

Do you know an exceptional woman who graduated from Mother McAuley/St. Xavier Academy? The deadline for 2017 nominations is Nov. 1.

CHICAGO, IL -- Do you know an exceptional woman who graduated fromMother McAuley Liberal Arts High School or St. Xavier Academy?

The Mother McAuley/St. Xavier Academy Alumnae Association is now accepting now accepting nominations for the McAuley Hall of Honor. Established in 2013, McAuley Hall is a permanent installation at the school.
The hall showcases inductees to educate and inspire current and future students, and all who visit the school. Past inductees include award-winning and inspiring alumnae, faculty members and Sisters of Mercy.

McAuley is celebrating its 60th year on 99th Street and Pulaski, educating young women from the Southland. Inspired by the work of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, McAuley Hall celebrates individuals who emulate Catherine’s legacy of leadership, courage and service to those in need through their contributions to the community and to the world. Induction is a high honor bestowed upon members of the McAuley family, including alumnae, parents, faculty and staff.

Nominees must have distinguished themselves through achievement or service, inspired others through their selflessness, faithfully served McAuley/Saint Xavier Academy and been a credit to their alma mater. Thoughtful consideration will be given to all nominees who meet this criteria. Nominators need not have attended McAuley to nominate an alumna for the hall of honor.

Past inductees have included a World War II cryptographer (code breaker), an American diplomat, a Cook County Board Commissioner, a radio broadcaster, an NCAA All-American and national champion volleyball player and college level coach, successful businesswomen and a school clerk, to name a few.

The 2017 nomination form, and information on past honorees, can be found online. Multiple nominations are welcome. Nominations close on November 1, 2016. Honorees will be inducted during a special Mass on April 30, 2017 at Mother McAuley.

Founded in 1956 by the Sisters of Mercy, Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School currently educates nearly 1,000 young women in grades 9 through 12. McAuley promotes a single-gender education platform that embraces, enriches and encourages young women to grow in faith, envision their future and discover their talents through a challenging and motivating academic and co-curricular program. With more than 26,000 alumnae, Mother McAuley’s tradition of excellence has made it a top choice for all-girls private education in the Chicago area.
