Men Caught on Camera Stealing Cell Phones: Police Blotter

Burr Ridge police reports, June 5-6

THURSDAY, JUNE 6

Caught on Camera

Arturo Salazar, 30, of the 800 block of Oakton Street, Des Plaines, and Toribio A. Carvajal, 36, of the 300 block of South Kimball, Elmhurst, were each charged with theft under $500. Salazar and Carvajal were arrested at 8:05 p.m. on the 15W400 block of North Frontage Road after management caught them on surveillance cameras stealing four Samsung cellular phones, according to police.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5

Did it Really Happen?

A woman told police at 5:56 p.m. that a white cooler was placed in her vehicle on Village Center Drive while she was at work. After speaking with witnesses, police classified this incident as unfounded.

Speeding, No Insurance

Leon E. Benguche, 22, of the 4600 block of West 47th Street, Chicago, was charged with speeding, driving while license suspended and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. Benguche was arrested at 6:39 a.m. after police stopped him on the 7800 block of County Line Road. 

The Briefcase Mystery

Someone at 6:42 p.m. reported a briefcase chained to a pole on the 16W600 block of South Frontage Road. After canvassing the area, police were unable to locate it.

Mini Problem

Someone at 3:25 p.m. complained of mini-bikes on County Line Road at I-55. Police did not find any bikes in the area.
